All youth sports programs rely on the dedication of volunteers and sponsors. The Mark Sorensen Youth Sailing Program has enlisted a boatload of such dedicated folks over the years and we always have room for more!
Our primary funding sources include program fees, donations, and sponsorships. To ensure accessibility, we intentionally keep registration fees significantly lower than comparable programs to prevent cost from becoming a barrier for families.

The Sorensen Family
In 1973 the Upper Keys Sailing Club was formed by a group of families with a shared love of sailing. In 1977, under the direction of Commodore Ken Sorensen, the club was able to purchase property for a clubhouse, thanks to the generous support of 38 club members, each contributing $1,000,
In 2005, the Mark Sorensen Youth Sailing Program (MSYSP) was established to encourage youth sailing. After Mark Sorensen sadly passed away from cancer at a young age, the Ken Sorensen family donated $25,000 to support youth sailing activities at the club in his honor.
