9am-3pm
The Intro to Sailing program is designed for anyone over 18 years old that has and interest in sailing but has limited experiences with it. Over the 2 day sessions, participants will be led by the MSYSP instructors through chalk talks, basic boat rigging and a few the on water lessons. This condensed experience will give the new sailors the opportunity to get a feeling of what the sailing community is all about.
Each day will begin with classroom style learning. Basic concept of points of sail, rigging, and parts of the boats will be covered. Next will be on land rigging and skill drills where the participants will get first hand experience working with one of our boats. Once the rigging is complete it will be time to head out on the water and experience sailing first hand.
If the sailors really enjoy the limited lessons given, we have partnered up with Paul from the Key Lime Sailing Club to offer more advanced sessions to really hone skills and learn larger vessels.
